      Verdict

      Valantino Oyster wasn't beaten far when third at Hamilton on Saturday and should figure again. But BRIGHT APPLAUSE went close over course and distance on his seasonal debut and can race off a lower mark today. Soft ground was a legitimate excuse for a below-par run last time and he gets the vote. Dabuki made all over 1m4f at Catterick last month but went out like a light when attempting 2m at Thirsk on his latest start. Opera Fan remains 4lb higher than her win at Beverley back in April but the unreliable Good Speech has run well on his last couple of visits to this track.
