Bit Of A Quirke won a small race at Leicester last month and probably ran up to that form when third at Beverley six days later. Four of BENADALID’s six victories on Turf have come over this course and distance. He’s slipped down the ratings this year and a first-time visor could help spark a revival. Little Ted has also won twice over track and trip and Spiritofthenorth will ensure there is no hanging about, despite the small field. Spantik stays much further so will need a strong gallop.

Spantik 8-1 (12-0) Made most until 3rd, led over 4f out, headed before 2 out, soon weakened, 4th of 7, 21 1/2l behind Presenting Pete (11-9) at Southwell 2m 4f hcp (4) gd in Jul.
