Plenty of the intended runners for the finale at Redcar hold solid claims and it is not a race to approach with a flippant few to finding the winner. However, Riska King does look to be still improving and the Forzando gelding may still be ahead of the handicapper. Rifleman is useful performer at this level but is a tricky ride so the ex-Sir Michael Stoute-trained Convex edges out Coranglais and Earlston to give the selection the most to do on the grounds of value. But Riska King's confidence will have been boosted after a tenacious victory at Beverley earlier in the month and he must go close her from just a 3lb higher mark - especially with a useful claimer taking a further 7lb off his back.
