          Verdict

          Caeser The Gaeser won at Carlisle last month and would have gone very close at Thirsk last week had he not blown the start – he has obvious claims. But PONTY ROYALE won on this card 12 months ago and she's been running enough in better races than this lately to suggest Tim Easterby's filly will record her first victory since May this afternoon. Mercers Row is starting to look well treated and is another previous course and distance winner but Indian Pursuit and Ypres are hard to predict while the handicapper still has Perfect Words in his grip.
