Ron Barr complicates matters by saddling two runners in the opener with Tropical Duke, a winner here over 1m2f in August racing off a 4lb higher mark today, marginally preferred to the consistent Silly Gilly. Tracy Waggott's Dean Iarracht is probably better over further but the likely strong pace will suit the four-year-old, while Michael Dods has his string in good heart so Prince Rhyddarch has to be respected having run promisingly on his reappearance at Hamilton last month. The vote in a competitive opener though goes the way of Brian Ellison's LAKEMAN, who has slipped to a fair mark and he looks worth siding with on ground that suits under the assistance of one of the leading amateur pilots.
