In depth
Verdict
This should concern the top four in the weights with preference given to Spa Lane ahead of Joely Green, Fayrway Rhythm and Double Blade. Spa Lane should easily win this on the best of his form and although he has not been winning lately he has put up some good efforts in defeat. He only weakened inside the final furlong last time out at Pontefract and a reproduction of that effort should see him get back to winning ways. Joely Green usually races over distances much shorter than this but has put up a couple of decent performances at this trip. Those efforts came on the AW and whether he can reproduce those efforts on a firm surface on turf remains to be seen. Fayrway Rhythm has not got the best of recent form but on his day he is capable of winning this at these weights. Proven on a firm surface he should give the selection most to do if in the mood. Double Blade, a fair hurdler on his day, has form around this trip and will not be inconvenienced by the ground. The market may prove the best guide to his chances and the jockey booking looks positive at this level.
