Sergeant Slipper has been in good form in similar company on the all-weather of late but may not be able to reproduce the form back on turf and a chance is taken with Downland, who gets the verdict over the well-treated Dizzy In The Head. The last mentioned has plenty in hand on official BHB ratings but has been on a steady downward spiral for some time now and gave little sign of encouragement on his return. Petongski, who represents the in-form stable of Brian Ellison, ran with credit under similar conditions at Newcastle last time and has to be respected, while a market move for David Barron's Mallia would be of interest. Sabana and Above Board are others worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Downland. Nigel Tinkler's gelding will relish the underfoot conditions and, with improvement to come for his recent reappearance, he looks worth a bet in a poor race.
