Verdict

ROGUE ANGEL battled to a short-head victory in the Irish National, for which he's received an 8lb rise. He's just as effective over this shorter trip as he proved in the Kerry National at Listowel and is taken to gain another big handicap victory. Pleasant Company is the only course and distance winner in the line-up having made a successful debut over fences on New Year's Eve. His subsequent runs have been at a higher level though he makes his handicap debut in this very tough contest. Kayf Supreme easily beat subsequent winner Kansas City Chief at Thurles and the former hunter is going the right way while Rebecca Curtis sends Newbury winner Potters Cross from the UK and he'd have to be respected if his jumping holds up. Toon River finished runner-up in a Grade 3 last time and has found his form but Texas Jack, who has generally competed in Grade company since landing a Grade 2 at Thurles in 2014, hasn't run well for a long time.
