Willie Mullins saddles seven of the dozen runners with former champion Faugheen tackling this trip for the first time since landing a Grade 3 novices' hurdle at Limerick in 2013. He's lost his sparkle in his three runs since returning from a very long break with an easy victory over Jezki, who won this in 2015, in the Morgiana at Punchestown and this looks a last throw of the dice. PENHILL is the form pick after his impressive victory in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham, though he was beaten when favourite in the Grade 1 Novices' race over this trip here a year ago. Unlike many of those who are racing here this week he's a fresh horse, however, as his victory at the Festival was his first run for almost a year. His stable companion Bacardys fell at the last in the Stayers' Hurdle and though reasonably close at the time he wouldn't have beaten the winner. UK raider La Bague Au Roi has won 10 of her 14 starts though is usually beaten when stepping up in grade but heavy ground could bring Diamond Cauchois into the equation for a place at least. Identity Thief remains a class act as we saw in the Grade 1 Liverpool Hurdle where he was competing over this trip for the first time and beat a smart field so he looks the most likely threat, though he's had four hard races this spring.
