Verdict

After victories at Leopardstown and Naas, Carter McKay was fancied for the championship bumper at Cheltenham but, though prominent for much of the way, was easily brushed aside in the closing stages. The winner, FAYONAGH, looked out with the washing for much of the race after being impeded but came with a storming late run to snatch the spoils and should complete a double. Her stable companion Poli Roi was bought for £300,000 by Gigginstown following an easy point-to-point victory and made an impressive start in a bumper at Navan. He looks a very smart prospect as does Someday, who battled on gamely to land what looked a strong bumper at Leopardstown and has been saved for this. Gary Moore wouldn't be sending the four-year-old Dell Oro here for the fresh air though he'll need to find massive improvement from his Fontwell victory.
