Verdict

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS, a Grade 1 winner over timber, is an exciting prospect for this campaign and would have been unbeaten over fences but for that last-fence fall in a Grade 1 at Cheltenham in March when a dozen lengths clear of Bob Olinger. Currently favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, he should have a nice warm-up here. Fakir D'oudairies has been a wonderful servant to J P McManus and Joseph O'Brien, winning eight times including Grade 1 races over fences at Ascot and Aintree in the spring. He has an excellent record fresh so looks the obvious danger. Fury Road was a long way behind the selection at Leopardstown in February and his form figures flatter him as he's been racing in very small fields. Troytown Handicap runner-up Lifetime Ambition looks best of the remainder.
