Verdict

DARVER STAR completed a hat-trick over timber on good ground last summer and gained his only chasing success on this course. He's on an 8lb lower mark over fences and this looks a good opportunity. Irascible took a crashing fall on just his second start over fences at Fairyhouse in April so may need a confidence booster. Birchdale looks a threat as he has been racing in strong company and was challenging when falling two out in the Killarney National when Pat Coyne pulled up. Archies Charm started favourite for the Ulster National but found 3m4f too far. Clounts Pride went up 10lb for winning a beginners' chase at Limerick under a 5lb claimer but is still 3lb out of the handicap.
