Verdict

Many of these are old friends though not Firewater, the only three-year-old in the line-up and stepping up markedly in grade after landing a Class 6 handicap at Nottingham. Tim Easterby has won this twice in recent years and Regal Mirage is 2lb lower than his last winning mark. He was conceding Bit Of A Quirke 3lb when beaten around 3l at Beverley last month and receives 2lb here so should get very much closer. Railport Dolly is a fast-ground specialist who is running well though the threat of rain is a problem. She had First Dance just over 2l behind when scoring at Wetherby in May and the latter has been disappointing. Billy Roberts followed a Beverley victory with a very good second at this grade at Ripon but the vote goes to SOD'S LAW, who is on the same mark as when successful in a better race here in October.
