In depth
Verdict
Those with experience are nothing special, so it can be worth chancing that Yemen Desert can cope with the demands of his racecourse debut and see off the challenges of Fyvie and Artistic Lady, who appear to be the best of the rest at this stage. That said, it would come as no surprise to see the selection's stablemate, Grave Matters, have improved from his debut run and he is another worth noting in the betting. Artistic Lady wasn't beaten far on her reappearance at Brighton and, as she may have needed the run, it would be dangerous to dismiss her too quickly. However, like a few of the rest, she may be better off in handicaps and it is worth noting what rating she is given after this. Fyvie was second to the 80-rated Arabella on her latest start and dropped a hint that she has a race within her somewhere along the line. However, she may have been flattered by the proximity to an easy winner and she now has something to prove. Therefore, we take a chance on the raw talent of Yemen Desert being enough to see her through her first visit to the track. The Johnston team have hit form with a vengeance this week and, armed with a Royal Ascot winner from Friday, this daughter of Sadler's Well can become the latest to score for a back-to-form team.
