Verdict

Annibale Caro looks the pick of a poor bunch and gets the verdict ahead of Smart John and Latif. This looks a typical Mark Prescott three-year-old as he ran over much shorter trips last season and will be seen to much better effect over middle distances. His three outings to date were on the all -weather but being a son of Mtoto he should be a much better performer on turf. Smart John has managed a recent victory, landing a modest Warwick handicap. He didn't do too badly next time when third behind Let It Be at Haydock and he looks the main threat to the selection. Latif is a consistent performer and chased home Nuit Sombre at Haydock last time, he has to be considered for place purposes at least in this type of event. Efhrina has also shown enough to warrant a mention and looks better than the other runner Boxhall. However the trip is the key here and Annibale Caro should find it ideal and is our choice.
