Three-year-olds have won seven of the last ten renewals including the last three and that generation look to hold the key. The superbly-bred HOOP OF COLOUR, a half-sister to a USA Grade 1 winner, is the type to improve with age and a step-up in trip as she showed with a comfortable victory over Oh Star at Newbury. The runner-up has won subsequently and with this extra quarter-mile certain to suit, Lady Cecil's filly gets the nod over Some Site, whose three runs to date have been on soft ground though she's another certain to appreciate the longer trip. Bayan Kasirga won four times late last summer and shot up the weights but she's now dropped to a much fairer mark unlike Dark Amber, who went up 4lb for finishing runner-up at Windsor. Vicky Valentine stays the trip and her latest run at Chester should be ignored as she didn't last out over that 2m.
Bayan Kasirga (IRE) 7-1 (9-3) Held up 3rd, pushed along and outpaced over 3f out, plugged on into 2nd inside final furlong, never any chance with very easy winner, 2nd of 3, 8l behind Only Orsenfoolsies (9-5) at Pontefract 1m 4f hcp 0-80 (4) gd in Jun.
Dark Amber 8-1 (9-10) Held up towards rear, pushed along 4f out, headway on wide ouside well over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, went 2nd in closing stages, not reach winner, 2nd of 12, nk behind Yeah Baby (9-0) at Windsor 1m 4f fll hcp (5) gd in Jun.
Hoop Of Colour (USA) 6-4fav (9-0) Always prominent, led over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, idled close home, won at Newbury 1m 2f mdn fll stks (4) gf in Jun beating Oh Star (9-0) by 1/2l, 10 ran.
Some Site (IRE) 8-11fav (8-9) In touch, headway to chase leader 3f out, joined leader 2f out, ridden to lead narrowly over 1f out, ran on and asserted final strides, won at Hamilton 1m 1f mdn stks (5) sft in Jun beating Maracuja (8-9) by 1/2l, 9 ran.
Vicky Valentine 12-1 (8-7) Tracked leader until ridden 3f out, weakened over 2f out, tailed off, last of 5, well behind Kashgar (9-4) at Chester 2m hcp 0-85 (4) gs in Jun.
