An intriguing contest can go to Fongs Gazelle. There appeared to be no fluke about Bogside Theatre's debut win at Newcastle (100-1 shot), however this mark of 82 looks stiff enough and he can be taken on, along with Pipe Dreamer. The selection didn't stay when tried over a mile and a half last time out and now drops back to the trip over which he recorded a hat-trick this spring. He has subsequently risen up the weights but this mark of 83 may not be enough to stop him getting his head back in front on ground that suits. El Decacy has won over course and distance so is another of interest now dropped in trip. New Beginning was flying at the finish on his latest start and if the race doesn't come too quick then he looks a real danger, whilst Pipedreamer enters handicaps on a mark of 85. To be frank, that looks high enough given the manner of his two runs so far although of course there is plenty of scope for improvement there. In truth, only Monsieur Dumas can be ruled out in this competitive handicap, and we will just side with Fongs Gazelle.
