In an interesting opener, Quartier Latin is selected with Sangiovese and Lunar Sovereign rated as his main dangers. From the Christian von der Recke stable that does do well with its British raiders - especially when Tony McCoy rides - German Listed winner Quartier Latin looks a likely type here and gets the vote. A 77-rated Flat winner, Anticipating has yet to build on his Towcester win and could be vulnerable to a less-exposed type. Haloo Baloo looked more a chasing type when second at Worcester on his debut, and the form does not look strong. The 2003 Grade 1 Man O' War Stakes winner, Lunar Sovereign, is now with Martin Pipe and has to be given every respect if just retaining a little of his ability returning now after a 494-day absence, while Hughie Morrison's 75-rated 10 furlong Flat winner, Sangiovese, looked promising when third on his hurdling debut and is very much respected. Finally, another German winner, Tech Eagle, showed promise on his British debut and he might go well, and Saraban has something to like on breeding but, for the selection, we will side with Quartier Latin.
