Celebrity Call can overcome top weight at this level and is selected ahead of Hazeljack and Walton Way. The last named should get the trip and arrives here on the back of a solid effort at Chepstow earlier in the month. However, he is exposed as ordinary and needs everything to fall into place for him. Hazeljack loves a stamina test and has to merit serious consideration if the market speaks in his favour. Even in the twilight of his career, the 13-year-old seems to be thriving on his racing and is in with a major shout in this grade. El Batal is another to note with interest in the betting, as he has room for improvement from his current mark. Like the selection, his rider takes 7lb off his back with a claim and his task at the weights is not as arduous as appears on first glance. However, there can also be plenty of mileage to be gained in siding with Celebrity Call, who is open to far more improvement than the rest and, as he took to these fences well on his chasing debut, the Oliver Sherwood-trained gelding looks worth a punt in a weak contest like this.
