In depth

Verdict

An uncompetitive event but connections of Young Ottoman won't be complaining as this appears a good opportunity for the seven-year-old to get off the mark over fences. Vic Dartnall's charge was the best of this bunch over timber and is improving with experience over the larger obstacles judged on his most recent effort when runner-up behind a fair yardstick at Newbury in December. The son of Mandalus stays well and handles the ground so should prove hard to beat on these favourable terms. Chateau Rose was a comfortable winner at Leicester last time but faces no easy task in conceding 6lb to the selection while Indeed To Goodness needs to improve her jumping technique to fulfill her potential. Moorlands Again made a winning debut over birch at Fontwell earlier in the month but that was a desperate affair and significantly more is required today.
