Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

A dour race and HOBB'S DREAM is the call with Sailor's Sovereign and Quartz Du Montceau also on the shortlist. Neil Mulholland's inmate ran respectably enough to finish third behind Abbey Dore on his most recent visit to the track. That horse has gone on to win since at Hereford so the form looks solid. Sailor's Sovereign is exposed as modest. His second to Woodlands Genpower at Towcester is fair form in relation to this grade so he cannot be completely dismissed. Quartz De Montceau seems to appreciate a slog in heavy ground with few runners in opposition. Connections have got it right on both counts today. Stockton Flyer is tried in a first time visor whilst Mooncoin Man and Miss Fleur have produced little to recommend them of late. Hobb's Dream is the nomination in a race of non-entities.
