A competitive start to the card and we will nominate WHAT LUCK to get the better of Paktol Des Brosses and Hawk Gold. Tim Vaughan's 7-year-old went close last time out when he just failed to get home over 3m. He is dropped in trip today which is a big plus and with conditions to suit he is taken to score. Paktol Des Brosses could be the fly in the ointment on his British debut as he has shown a fair level of form in France and it will be interesting to see if the market speaks in his favour. Hawk Gold was returning from a lengthy break at Fontwell last month when he finished third behind Command Marshal. That form has since been franked, so he is another for whom a strong case can be made. Colonial Jim would have claims on the pick of his form but he is returning from a lengthy break today and he does need cut in the ground to be seen at his best. This looks a good opportunity for What Luck who gets the pick.
