      Verdict

Calliope was third at Kelso last week and not beaten far at Cartmel before that. Brian Hughes isn’t a bad replacement for Danny McMenamin, who has been claimed for RUBYTWO but Nicky Richards’ mare begins another campaign on a decent mark and has generally kept better company than this. Coral Blue and Navegaon Gate also return to action with a chance and Petite Rhapsody has placed in his last five runs here. Lough Carra was second in a novices’ handicap here at the start of the month and is only a pound higher so is another for the shortlist.
