        Verdict

        Poetic Flare puts the 2000 Guineas form to the test. He was all out to score on the fast ground at Newmarket and was beaten in soft going by ST MARK’S BASILICA in last year’s Dewhurst Stakes. The form of the latter race has taken a blow so far this season but the Ballydoyle colt is a half-brother to a Guineas winner and with improvement expected over this extra furlong, he gets the vote on his seasonal debut. Mehmento was beaten by Chindit in the Greenham and the latter was only fifth in the 2000 Guineas while Andre Fabre and Godolphin bid for a third straight success in this but Parchemin finished behind Easter, Summiter, Sealiway and the winner Policy Of Truth here in a Group 3 trial. The latter was beaten by runner-up Normandy Bridge in a Group 1 at Saint-Cloud last year while the unbeaten Breizh Eagle beat Colosseo in a conditions race at the track last month.
