        Verdict

        The brilliant ENABLE bids to land this for a historic third time in succession. It was soft ground when John Gosden’s star won this at Chantilly in 2017 and she had Waldgeist in fourth back here last year before beating the latter again in the King George at Ascot in July. Magical has fallen victim to Enable four times now but her three-year-old stablemate Japan looks a threat. The latter won the Grand Prix de Paris over track and trip before successful in the Juddmonte International at York and improves with every run. Ghaiyyath was beaten by Waldgeist here in April before winning a soft Group 1 in Germany, though is held in high regard, but the French Derby winner Sottsass is preferred having landed the Prix Neil trial here last month in good style. It’s difficult to see any of the remainder proving good enough with the progressive French King preferred to the Japanese trio.
