Mubariz hasn't been beaten far in strong maidens at Sandown and Newmarket and this looks a drop in class. Garrison Commander made his debut over 6f at Salisbury and couldn't go the early pace but stayed on when the race was over so should be suited by the extra. Red Phoenix has a smart pedigree but hasn't shown enough to be considered so far while Wedding Blue was very green at Leicester a fortnight ago. Metaphor is closely related to five winners and this should be his trip while Funny Man is the second foal of a mare who produced a winner over this trip with her first. CADRE DU NOIR cost $560,000 as a foal and almost double that as a yearling. He's by War Front and a half-brother to a Grade 2 winner in the USA so will be expected to start repaying some of that outlay soon.
