      Verdict

A batch of useful types on view for our second contest. Alshawameq and Manipulator have produced decent efforts on the track but the evergreen Roger Charlton may have a useful newcomer in Rarefied. Alshawameq showed the benefit of first time blinkers when scoring at Salisbury last time out. He beat a 90-rated horse on that day by three lengths and while he may possess one or two ideas about the game; John Dunlop's juveniles are running ominously well at the moment. Manipulator has achieved a high rating following two easy wins earlier in the season. He ran a stinker at Chester and could have difficulty in conceding a penalty to Alshawameq. Vademecum looks the type to improve with age. He won a Newcastle maiden with a degree of authority but probably beat nothing in the process. Carini should similarly improve for age and will not start at such long odds today. Rarefied is a well-bred Danehill colt who should be capable of getting a mile in time. We will side with Alshawameq at today's terms.
