Brandywell Boy looks to be going the right way but only one win from 36 starts has to be of concern for his backers and preference is for Mr Rooney, with Paddywack rated the pick of the remainder. Admittedly the selection is another with a poor strike-rate but he has only been with David Nicholls this season and the colt has shown enough in his last two starts to suggest that he can take advantage of what now appears a decent mark. Overwing has slipped to a decent mark and has to be respected on recent evidence, while No Time may be a shade high in the weighs and should struggle to confirm Newcastle form with Mr Rooney. Billy Red is capable but more solid claims are held by the David Chapman's evergreen Paddywack. Mr Rooney has solid claims though and he is taken to gain an overdue success.
