        Verdict

        A tight handicap in which POLYPHONY is taken to gain due reward for a sequence of runner-up efforts which has seen the Mackie filly beaten under a length on each occasion, including twice in photo finishes. The daughter of Power seems sure to run her race and also has plenty of form in the book with cut in the ground. She does face a potent threat though in the shape of Classic Charm if the Rip Van Winkle filly can reproduce her runaway success here at the start of the month, which came on the soft. However, she has been hit with a 12lb rise. A case can be argued for most of the others, of which Eula Varner and Material Girl make most appeal.
