In depth

Verdict

SPLENDENT ran well when clearing the cobwebs away on reappearance, since when the colt has scored at Windsor and finished a close-up third in a typically competitive handicap at the York Dante meeting. He's only1lb higher for that run and is expected to appreciate this extra two furlongs. Connections also reach for a first-time tongue tie and cheekpieces in an attempt to eke out further improvement. Bashful Boy displayed a good attitude to oblige over this trip at Salisbury and should be in the shake-up once again after a 3lb rise. Single doesn't win very often but usually runs her race and should be in the mix again along with course and distance winner, Protected Guest, who, as usual, will need to be finessed into things as late as possible by usual partner, Tom Queally.
