    Verdict

NAGANO missed the break when making his debut in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket but was picking up nicely in the closing stages. The fourth has already franked that form and it will be a surprise if Roger Varian’s gelding is not in the shake-up here with another quarter-mile to cover. Meritorious has already had a few chances and doesn’t look straightforward and he was beaten by Mystical Dawn at Newmarket in October. The Godolphin runner didn’t distinguish himself at Meydan in February, however, and has a penalty to carry. Tiger Beetle ran with some promise on his reappearance over track and trip and makes more appeal than stablemate Blow That Horn.
