Hydroxide disappointed when odds-on for a maiden on the all-weather and will presumably need to win this if he’s to take up an entry in the Racing Post Trophy at the end of the month. Rated 83, he should go close but a chance is taken on CONTRAPPOSTO handling soft ground. The latter is also in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster and his latest second at York looks stronger form than Fujaira Bridge, Fields Of Fortune and Mungo Madness have so far managed. A half-brother to a Group 3 winner in Germany, Stradivarius is another entered at Doncaster and the Gosden colt is preferred to the filly and fellow newcomer Star Story.
