Verdict

Regain Du Charbonneau didn't really do enough on his chase bow when beaten 24 lengths in fifth to suggest that he was a winner in waiting but he does represent a top yard and is open to improvement and this race may not take much winning. Captain Marlon isn't easy to catch right as a record of one win from thirty two starts suggests but he is a relatively consistent sort who threw in a rare bad run last time. He was behind SIR BUMBLE over course and distance in July and, although he's considerably better off at the weights, he may not be able to reverse the form with Michael Blake's charge who seems to be equally effective under more testing conditions. Le Forezien was still in contention when brought down in that race in July and merits respect with a soft ground win at the track to his name.
