Beholden sets the form standard but it's not a daunting one by any means, although his consistency is a definite plus point. Holerday Ridge's course win came in a bumper and he seeks a follow up on hurdling debut with a first taste of cut in the ground. SHIP OF THE FEN landed an extended 2m handicap on the Flat in May but has yet to fire to the same extent over hurdles. However, he ran quite well in a decent Cartmel handicap last time before fading late on and is worth chancing back in trip and down in grade. Mister Sweets may have more to offer and Dr Newland's winning French import, Ottavio, is expected to improve on a modest debut for the yard.
