In depth

Verdict

A typical wide-open summer hurdle race but Richard Johnson stays loyal to last month’s Cartmel winner SAMOSET and the latter is taken to defy a hike in the weights. Kempton winner Bulletproof and course winner Walter White scored in this grade last time but Midnight Sapphire is upped in class having also won here recently. Sheer Poetry was still in contention when falling in the race won by Walter White when Frozen Over and Cleni Wells were well beaten while Professeur Emery was having his first start since 2013 when fourth at Bangor in March and had been progressive before that.
