A messy finale but ROMAN STRAIT may reap the reward for his consistency. Upped to seven furlongs when finishing in mid-division here last time, he looks far more effective at six, to which he reverts here. He has put together a decent series at that trip this term and seems fairly weighted. Golden Compass won a weak race last time thanks to yet another tactically astute ride from William Carson at Yarmouth, a course he rides as well as any pilot in the country. She has a 6lb penalty for that win and all her best form has come on soft ground so this terrain is a question mark. Brave Dream put some poor efforts behind him with an improved performance last time and Magic Stella is well treated but appears to have lost her form completely this term.
