The market will provide the biggest clues regarding newcomers such as Nahane and Detailed but Forthright looks best of those to have raced previously and sets the standard. Clive Brittain's charge made a pleasing introduction over six furlongs at Yarmouth last month and, having made most of the running, he kept on well to finish runner-up behind a well regarded individual. The son of Cadeaux Genereux is stoutly bred on the dam's side of his pedigree and this Derby entry should appreciate the step up in trip so should take plenty of beating with the benefit of previous experience. Sir Michael Stoute introduces Nahane, who makes plenty of appeal on breeding being by Rainbow Quest out of an Irish Oaks heroine, while Richard Hannon saddles both Detailed and Saipan with the former the pick of the pair on jockey bookings. John Dunlop's Jedburgh and Roger Charlton's Hatch are others to consider but Forthright gets the verdict.
