One of just three maidens in the field, Applauded gets the nod to spring a surprise ahead of Missit and Makaaseb. Brian Meehan and Frankie Dettori team up on this 140,000 guineas daughter of Royal Applause who can make it third time lucky. She missed the break slightly last time out but ran well in defeat; they were some way clear of the remainder and likely to handle the ground, she is fancied to score. Missit is likely to be prominent in the betting but she was well-held last time; this is a drop in class but she needs to prove that this ground suits and that she is as good as connections believe. Kitty Matchem has more to give and should go on from her win last time, whilst Love Of Dubai is improving with every start and appreciated the step up in trip when winning at Warwick. Rosa Grace only went down narrowly last time out in a Group Three when bidding for the hat-trick and Rae Guest's filly must be a player if handling the ground. Royal Confidence was one place ahead of her on that occasion and with plenty of experience, Barry Hills' filly must have claims once again. Her stablemate Kay Es Jay drops in trip today having been outclassed last time but needs a check in the betting. A competitive renewal, but Applauded is fancied to score at the third attempt.
