made all, quickened clear inside final furlong, stayed on strongly
tracked winner, ridden entering final furlong, no extra and lost 2nd place towards finish
tracked leaders, ridden over 1f out, kept on to take 2nd towards finish, no chance with winner
in touch and in rear, outpaced 2f out
A disappointing turn out for a 2000 Guineas trial with today's runners presumably scaring off any opposition. All four are entered in the season's first Classic and already feature in the betting. The unbeaten TORONADO is currently second favourite for the Guineas and is looking to confirm superiority with Dundonnell. He beat Roger Charlton's colt in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster in September though there was little to separate the pair and the latter is 3lb better off today. Richard Hannon also runs Havana Gold and he's not out of this either with Jamie Spencer on board after a narrow defeat at the hands of Ghurair in last year's Tattersalls Millions 2YO Trophy. Tawhid makes up the quartet having ended last season with victory in the Horris Hill at Newbury but the Godolphin colt is facing much tougher opponents in this.
