Verdict

John Gosden has won three of the last six renewals and the newcomer Gretchen is a half-sister to Irish St Leger winner Duncan. Stablemate Mill Springs showed promise when third on her debut at Chelmsford but FOREVER POPULAR found only one too good in what looked a stronger maiden race at Newbury. She is taken go one better over this longer trip ahead of Destalink, who also ran well when fourth on the same card at Newbury. Striding Out was still beaten a long way when second at Doncaster while Bess Of Hardwick is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Ask and is worth noting on her debut.
