Verdict

RUSSET GOLD was a ready winner at Redcar last time out and can make a substantial weight-for-age allowance count against elder rivals this afternoon. Conquistador has been left on the same mark as when he finished third in a competitive Royal Ascot handicap and he’s been a credit to George Boughey since joining the yard this season. Robert Cowell’s sprinters can never be ruled out and Isle Of Lismore is a previous course and distance victor while The Thames Boatman was fourth in a decent affair at York and connections put the hood on in an attempt to extract further improvement from him this afternoon.
