keen, held up in last place, ridden 2f out, no impression
chased winner, ridden and every chance over 1f out, stayed on final furlong
led, ridden 3f out, headed over 1f out, rallied to lead again and edged right entering final furlong
The card's feature race can go to Mountain High, with Bandari and Enforcer rating as the main dangers. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained selection looks to hold the aces here based on his Hardwicke Stakes second last time, and given that he looks to have some improvement in him. Enforcer has been running well in some big races virtually all season, doing himself proud in the process, and can run well again although he has just over two lengths to find on the selection based on Royal Ascot form. Bandari won this race two years ago and has already shown that he has retained most of his ability which, to be fair, makes him a major player today, and it is to be hoped that he will at least ensure a fair pace in the contest. Much as Soapy Danger won well at Royal Ascot last time, this represents a step up class so, once again, we return to the selection, which is Mountain High.
Bandari (IRE) 17-2 (9-0) Led after 2f, ridden and headed 2f out, weakened quickly over 1f out, last of 8, 8l behind Maraahel (9-0) at Ascot 1m 4f Grp 2 (1) gf in Jun.
Enforcer 8-1 (9-0) Took keen hold, held up, headway over 1f out, stayed on but never able to challenge, 3rd of 8, 1 1/2l behind Maraahel (9-0) at Ascot 1m 4f Grp 2 (1) gf in Jun.
Mountain High (IRE) 7-2fav (9-0) Keen hold, tracked leading pair, 4th straight, ridden to lead over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, stayed on under pressure, 2nd of 8, hd behind Maraahel (9-0) at Ascot 1m 4f Grp 2 (1) gf in Jun.
Soapy Danger 4-1 (9-1) In touch, pushed along 3f out, soon challenging, led approaching 2f out, driven entering final furlong, stayed on strongly, won at Ascot 2m 3yo Grp 3 (1) gf in Jun beating Galient (9-1) by 1 1/2l, 11 ran.
