Greek War returned to action with a convincing victory over C&D but has something to prove stepping up in class off a 14lb higher mark. Stable companion Samba King has already failed in this grade on a couple of occasions and the unexposed Nabucco is preferred having landed the odds in a Windsor maiden last month. Mark Johnston makes a determined bid with three runners and Ascot winner Fennell Bay should be thereabouts again having beaten Pilgrims Rest, Ghost Protocol and stablemate Prussian in the King George V handicap last time. HAJRAS is the least exposed of the Middleham trio, however, and his latest second at Newbury to subsequent Listed runner-up Expense Claim is working out well. He gets the tentative vote in a open contest with Stature and Beaufort Twelve closely matched on latest running and Razorbill open to further progress.
