John Gosden has won four of the last eight and though Waldstern, a winner on his debut here in August, ran poorly at Chester he got no sort of run and can do much better. Mark Johnston has won the race twice in recent years and Nayef Road, a comfortable winner here last summer, made a successful reappearance on the Rowley Course and ran a fine race in the Queen's Vase last month. However, he finished just behind BARBADOS (NAP) at Ascot and the Ballydoyle colt looks to have found his best trip and can go one better. Eagles By Day, well beaten behind Anthony Van Dyck in the Lingfield Derby Trial, didn't get the best of runs behind Japan in the King Edward VII Stakes but was staying on strongly and today's extra furlong looks certain to suit. Spanish Mission was a 20/1 chance for a Listed contest over 1m3f at Goodwood but made the short-priced winner pull out all the stops and is on the upgrade.
