Verdict

A classy renewal with the quintet of older horses, spearheaded by Lady Bowthorpe, having much to do to repel a host of three-year-olds receiving 9lb. 1000 Guineas winner, MOTHER EARTH, went on to finish runner-up in the French equivalent before finishing a decent third to Alcohol Free in the Coronation Stakes when the latter reversed Classic form. There should be little between them, along with Snow Lantern who split the pair at the Royal meeting, but the feeling persists that the Ballydoyle filly may be better suited by the straight mile on quick ground. It would also be dangerous to ignore both Guineas runner-up Saffron Beach and Pretty Gorgeous, possibly yet to really hit her straps this season.
