Cornus, Glasshoughton and Resplendent Alpha form our short-list in a typically competitive finale with Alan McCabe's runner the pick. This handicap mark has proved beyond him in the past but he returned to form over course and distance last time and has run well enough from similar ratings to think that he's up to winning from this perch. He had finished just behind Glasshoughton at Redcar on his penultimate start and has work to do to better that rival on 2lb worse terms but there's not a great deal to choose between the pair. Resplendent Alpha gained a deserved maiden success on turf a week ago and has a penalty to carry as a result. He's well handicapped on his old form, comes here in great nick and should go well again but does need everything to fall just right. Plenty in with chances but Cornus may be able to bring home the bacon.
