In depth

Verdict

Soldiers Bay showed promise on his debut at Newbury but didn’t build on that next time at Ascot, though looks a likely sort for a nursery in the next few weeks. A grey son of Frankel, Silver Quartz is a half-brother to three winners up to 1m4f and has a Derby entry so should have the stamina for this. Peter Chapple-Hyam trained Just Brilliant’s half-brother Marcel, who won the Racing Post Trophy, but ASTROLOGIST is another newcomer to note as he is by Sea The Stars and a full brother to Raheen House, who won a Group 3 here in July. Clive Cox’ colt can make a winning start to his career.
