A fair maiden which gives Henry Candy's Jayer Gilles the chance to break his duck at the expense of Mandatum and Turnstile. Ganymede clearly has ability but doesn't¿ seem inclined to win having spurned several good opportunities while Turnstile too has had chances. After respectable efforts at Newbury and Newmarket he was a fair third to Jack of Trumps at Salisbury. He should be thereabouts, a remark which also applies to Mandatum. He made his debut over a mile and a half when second to Act of the Pace at Ripon and then , brought back to ten furlongs turned in an improved performance to get within three quarters of a length of Fortunes Princess at Pontefract. Jayer Gilles has also run well and is open to further improvement after two promising efforts, on his debut finishing second to Light Wind at Chepstow and then occupying the same spot at Pontefract. Both were good performances and Jayer Gilles is the selection.
