In depth

Verdict

A very interesting maiden here where there will be plenty to take out for the future, but for now Ridge Dance may provide us with a debut success, with other newcomers Kinnego Bay and Prevailing Wind perhaps the most likely to go well, while Captain Brilliance and Papillio already have decent form on the board. The selection is bred to go well as a juvenile at around this trip begin out of Pearl Dance who won on her debut over 6f. John Gosden's last three winners have all been juveniles at the time of writing this preview and his yard are in good nick, so we will take a chance on Ridge Dance. Kinngeo Bay is another bred to be precocious at two and we should watch the market for clues to both his chance and that of Prevailing Wind, whose sire Gone West has a good record with the two-year-olds he produces. Captain Brilliance was just held by Spanish Bounty at Newmarket on debut and will be much sharper for the experience, so he will be many people's idea of the winner, and the form of that outing has worked out well enough. Papillio did not quite match the former runner on his debut, but again improvement is highly likely, and he can be competitive. But John Gosden has his juveniles in fine fettle and Reidge Dance can provide him with another success.
