Verdict
A rather ordinary affair to conclude a Classic day. Golden Town steps down from Group company after finishing sixth in Kingman's Greenham Stakes but didn't look too straightforward that day. The drop in trip could help but he may need more time. Lyn Valley and Hors De Combat will improve for their seasonal reappearances whereas Monsea may possibly need this after a decent absence. Yenhaab and BORN IN BOMBAY prop up the handicap, both having only landed maidens last time. However, both were impressive scorers, are in very good hands and can be expected to progress considerably. Narrow preference is for Andrew Balding's Shamardal colt who couldn't have won more easily at Kempton and seems a sure-fire improver.
